The Institute for Reform and Solutions, 501c3 nonprofit organization
Dear Potential Sponsor,
As we find the urgency of the pandemic subsiding, and outdoor gatherings becoming possibilities, The Institute for Reform and Solutions is embracing the opportunity to return to supporting the recovery of those affected by drug addiction, particularly methamphetamines and opioids. As cited in Forbes on Dec. 14, 2020, overdose deaths have increased significantly from a high of 70,000 deaths in 2019.* For this reason, we cannot forget those who suffer from these diseases, and remember lives lost to addiction. The Institute, which has a long history of supporting justice-involved persons and families, as well as those struggling in our communities to maintain healthy lifestyles and break the cycle of substance use disorder and mental illness, is ready to help.
This summer, The Institute will be conducting two events (one in Lexington and the other in Staunton) to highlight and support institutions and centers that support the recovery process. Both will be live, outdoor music events with food, vendors, activities, and more to raise money for local organizations that provide prevention, intervention, recovery programs in Rockbridge and Augusta Counties, as well as the municipalities in each jurisdiction. The Institute for Reform and Solutions serves as the host and fiscal agent. Therefore, all donations are tax-deductible. If successful, we will conduct Recover Fest each summer!
The Lexington event will be held on Thursday, July 29th (rain or shine), at Hull's Drive-In Theater. The rain location is Grace Presbyterian Church. There will be live bands, information tables, and sponsors supporting the event. Hull's will also have fresh food and drinks at their concession stand. The Staunton event is scheduled for Thursday, August 5th (the rain date is August 19th), at the Sunspots Pavilion on the Wharf. Several live bands from an array of music genres will perform. On site will be information tables, and sponsors supporting the event. Shredders BBQ will provide delicious local BBQ sandwiches.
We will adhere to the CDC guidelines for safe gatherings. Since these are constantly under revision, we will update the plan as necessary on The Institute and Recover Fest Facebook pages and websites. As of today, we will limit participants to 250, but will live stream for those who cannot attend. Handwashing, safe distancing, etc. will be mandated in accord with CDC guidelines, as the dates are near.
All contributions will be recognized on the website, across social media, and will be projected live by sponsorship levels during the evening of the events.
Please make checks payable to The Institute for Reform and Solutions at P.O. Box 1909, Staunton VA 24402.
