Where donations from the Lexington event will go:

In Lexington and the surrounding Rockbridge County area, a lot of individuals who are at the early stages in their recovery have a hard time getting rides to their appointments. Therefore, this year's goal for the Lexington Recover Fest 2021 event is to raise money to help these people get transportation to appointments and group meetings in order to combat their addiction. This will be done by donating funds to the Rockbridge Area Health Center's Mountain View Recovery program, who will ensure that funds are used for these specific needs. Your donation will support these efforts. For more information about this program, click here.

Where donations from the Staunton event will go:

In Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta County, many are struggling with homelessness, unemployment, addiction, and other social barriers to success. These individuals are also at high risk of relapse to methamphetamine and opioids as well as other substances. Therefore, the Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) program, managed by the Institute for Reform and Solutions, has achievable goals that on law enforcement diverted participants who are apprehended but not charged for possession of schedule 1 and 2 drugs. Recover Fest will support its efforts.

About LEAD

LEAD is a pilot program through Augusta County Sheriff’s Office that hopes to expand to Staunton and Waynesboro as well as Lexington and Rockbridge County in the future. Participants in the program come into offices and will be assessed for risk of criminality and public safety in their impact. The program is totally focused on diversion to treatment which will be viable, affordable, and deliverable. In addition to being assessed for risk factors, LEAD will also work with social service agencies who are assisting with emergency childcare money, food stamps, etc. through an intensive 12 month program. LEAD is the first of its kind in the state of Virginia.
